Margaret Drabble is an English novelist and biographer. She published 19 novels, most of whose protagonists are women. Her books tended to reflect her own personal experiences, as well as English contemporary society vs the individual members of society. Her first novels explored the lives of women in the 60s/70s who dealt with the struggle of motherhood and intellectualism; and addressed sexual, professional, and social conflicts. She has said that The Needle’s Eye is her favourite of all her books.
