American novelist and short story writer Patricia Highsmith wrote under the pseudonym Claire Morgan. She published The Price of Salt in 1952, which is known as the first lesbian novel with a happy ending. She wrote Ripley Underground in 1970, a psychological thriller; the second novel in her Ripliad series.
