Shelagh Delaney was a British dramatist. Known widely for A Taste of Honey (1958), which she wrote when she was 18 years old and is considered “one of the defining plays of the 1950s working-class and feminist cultural movements” (The Guardian, 2011). The play centred a gay man, included working-class women from their points of view, and featured a black character who was not idealized or racial stereotyped.
