Joanna M. Glass was a Canadian playwright and novelist. She wrote “gothic portraits of prairie family life [which have] become integral to the imagined nation, evoking both the irresponsible creative spirit and the pain of isolation”. Artichoke, 1975, was a comedy, well received as a “distinctively Canadian play evoking graphic images of the prairies during the Depression”. (The Canadian Encylopedia, 2013).
