Zora Neale Hurston was a Black American writer, anthropologist, playwright, and filmmaker. Her work often depicted African American life in the South, and portrayed racial struggles in the early 1900s. Her anthropological work focused on Black folklore and culture. Her work was not widely known during her own lifetime, but she is now considered one of the most important writers of the 20th century. Dust Tracks on a Road is her 1942 autobiography.
