Betty Lambert was a Canadian playwright and academic. She wrote many stage plays and radio dramas, and regularly used autobiographical and historical content in her work. (Canadian Theatre  Encyclopedia, 2022). Jennie's Story Under the Skin are her best known works.

"Jennie's Story is set on the prairies in 1938-39, this play concerns a young woman, Jennie McGrane, who must confront her apparent inability to bear children

Under the Skin tells the story of Emma, the twelve-year-old daughter of Maggie Benton, who has disappeared. John and Renee Gifford, Maggie's neighbours and friends, attempt to console her, but their own ominous behaviour makes this a cold comfort.
