Edna Ferber was an American novelist, playwright, and short story writer. Her work featured strong female protagonists as well as a diverse and complex group of characters, including those who encountered racial or ethnic discrimination. She won a Pulitzer Prize for her 1924 novel ‘So Big’.Â
