Denise Levertov was a British-American poet. She was highly political and her poetry called out the Vietnam War and the first Gulf War injustices. Her work was printed in the Black Mountain Review in the 50s, but denies formal association with the group. Her work tended to be confessional and autobiographical; and closer to the end of her life, spiritual.
