The Home, Penelope Mortimer. Penguin, 1973.

Vintage paperback. Some light shelfwear. Some scratches to cover and edge. No markings inside. Good condition.

Penelope Mortimer was a Welsh-born English journalist and novelist. Many of her stories are semi-autobiographical and tended to explore the emotional impact of failing marriages and the loneliness of women trapped in domestic prisons. In the 60s Mortimer and her husband, John, were considered one of London’s most fashionable and radical couples. ‘The Home’ was published in 1972, and tells the story of a woman whose 25 year marriage is ending, and is now set to live in their home with five of her grown children.
