American novelist and short story writer Patricia Highsmith wrote under the pseudonym Claire Morgan. She published The Price of Salt in 1952, which is known as the first lesbian novel with a happy ending. She wrote This Sweet Sickness in 1960, a psychological thriller about a man who is obsessed with a woman who has rejected his advances.
