Angela Carter was an English novelist, short story writer, poet, and journalist known for her feminist, magical realism. In 1979, she wrote The Bloody Chamber, a collection of subversive, dark, and sensual versions of familiar fairy tales such as “Little Red Riding Hood,” “Puss in Boots,” and “Beauty and the Beast”.
Wise Children was Carter's last novel. It tells the stories of twin chorus girls and their strange theatrical family.
